Farmer Awareness Programmes

Government Programmes for Farmers

Agriculture is a backbone of the Indian economy, with over 50% of the population relying on it for their livelihood. However, despite its significance, Indian farmers face numerous challenges such as low productivity, lack of access to modern technology, and inadequate knowledge about best farming practices. To address these issues, the Indian government has launched several farmer awareness programmes aimed at improving the overall standard of farming in the country.

Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs)

Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) are a network of agricultural extension centres established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). These centres provide training to farmers on various aspects of modern agriculture, including crop production, animal husbandry, and farm management. KVKs also help farmers to access new technologies and better seeds, and provide them with information on market trends and government policies.

National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED)

NAFED is a government-owned organization that provides training to farmers on various aspects of agriculture, including market linkages, production techniques, and quality control. NAFED also helps farmers to access credit, insurance, and marketing services, and provides them with information on government policies and programs.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)

NABARD is a development bank that provides credit and support to the agricultural sector in India. The bank conducts training programs for farmers on various aspects of agriculture, including credit and marketing, and provides them with information on government policies and programs.

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA)

ATMA is a government-funded organization that works to improve the overall standard of farming in India. The agency provides training to farmers on modern farming practices, including seed production, pest management, and soil conservation. ATMA also helps farmers to access new technologies, seeds, and credit.
